IN THE NEWS!
The Jiaxing Festival was featured in several national and local news broadcasts and newspapers. Our team made it into some of them too! Anne and Xuefeng were featured on camera, and I was interviewed for a newspaper article. Please take a look and see what it's been like for us dragon boating here in China! Thank you so much again to everyone who helped make our trip possible!

You've got to fast forward to the end to see the segment about the festival. Sorry for the inconvenience.

This is perhaps the best video featuring the Jiaxing Festival on the day of the opening ceremony. You can very clearly see our team, California, New Zealand, and others. Anne and Xuefeng are featured in the video, too! (I sincerely apologize ahead of time for my extremely awkward skulking in the background during Anne's interview. I did not realize I was in the video frame. How embarrassing! :-( )

I don't know if this link still works. If not, I apologize, but if it does work (and Google Translate kicks in), then please have a look. It is a well-written, detailed article about the festival. I was fortunate enough to get a quote in it, too:
"The spirit of Dragon Boating should be 'all-weather'!" said Lian Zongheng, a Chinese-American from Harvard, who emigrated to the United States when he was 5. Just two weeks ago, his team participated in the Dragon Boat Festival in Boston and finished 3rd overall. Lian told the reporter that, years ago, when he saw a dragon boat race on TV, he was instantly drawn to this sport with special traditional characteristics. This is his fourth year as a member of the Harvard team. "Being Chinese, I feel duty-bound to introduce the fine traditions of Chinese culture to the world. Every year during the May 5th Dragon Boat Festival, my mom would make rice dumplings for our family, and we also shared them with neighbors and friends."
