May 22, 2013: Ding Ding Ding!! CHINA, ROUND 2
You know the saying, "If it weren't for the last minute, nothing would get done?" Yeah, well, we just re-wrote the definition of what it means to get sh*t done at the last minute!
On very short notice, Harvard Dudley Dragon Boat will be sending a team for the second year in a row to participate in the 4th Annual International Collegiate Dragon Boat Federation Championships, held this year in Taiyuan, China, on June 10-14, 2013. Remember our crazy trip to Jiaxing last year? Recall how awesome and fun dragon boating looked?! Well, we're back again to bring you all the highlights of this year's trip. Harvard Dudley just started the 2013 season in May, and we're very excited to kick off the summer with concurrent races in Boston and Taiyuan. Given the time constraints of this year's trip, our China team is smaller this time around and composed of experienced members and new paddlers. Currently, we are registered for the Mixed Division 200m, 500m, and 2km races. With help of race organizers, we may also be able to combine with other teams at the festival to form all Men's and/or all Women's teams!
Trip planning so far has been like WHOA, and there's still a lot of information that we as a team do not have, but stick with us here and check back as the festival approaches to follow us on our travels to China and throughout our races at the Taiyuan Dragon Boat Festival!
This year's China travel journal is dedicated to all our friends and dragon boat colleagues (I'm especially looking at you, 2012 Cali Team) who can't make the ICDBF Championships. You'll be with us in spirit!
Pre-Trip Numbers:
Days since we decided to go to China: 7
Days till departure: 16
Practices left till departure: 6
Emails sent so far regarding the trip: Somewhere in the 200s
Amount of work we need to do to get fit again: it's basically ∞
