June 9: "one day in beijing and the world's your oyster"

Our first full day in China started off with a sumptuous breakfast at the Beijing West Railway Hotel. Afterward, we tackled the Beijing subway for the first time and found our way to Tiananmen Square and the one and only Forbidden City.

So we're beginning to realize that Alex flashes the same "Hang Loose" sign in all his photos. (I think it's really a gang sign, seeing as he's Colombian and all) Be on the lookout for them as this blog moves forward. FYI, the sign Alex is flashing above means the number 6 in China.

At one point, the rain came down in buckets, and we sought shelter under one of the temples. And whaddayaknow, during that time, our ladies were once again inundated with photo requests.
